Facial Traumatic Surgeries
Careful repair after an injury
Injuries to the teeth, jaws and facial bones need prompt assessment and careful repair. Treatment begins with imaging to establish exactly what has been damaged.

About the treatment
Assessment first, then a plan
Facial injuries range from a knocked-out or displaced tooth to fractures of the jaw or facial bones. What looks minor from outside can involve more than is visible, so assessment and imaging come before any treatment decision.
Treatment depends entirely on what the imaging shows — repositioning and splinting a displaced tooth, restoring a fractured one, or surgical management of a bone injury. Follow-up matters as much as the initial repair, because some consequences of trauma, particularly to the nerve inside a tooth, only become apparent over the following months.
- Prompt assessment and imaging after injury
- Treatment matched to what the imaging actually shows
- Structured follow-up, not a one-off repair
- Longer-term effects on the tooth monitored over time

Questions & answers
Everything you need to know
Still unsure about facial traumatic surgeries? Our team is always happy to talk it through and answer anything that is on your mind.
Handle it by the crown, not the root. If it is an adult tooth, it can sometimes be reimplanted — keep it moist in milk or saliva (never water) and get to a dentist as quickly as possible. Do not attempt to reimplant a baby tooth.
