Working with a child’s growth
While a child is growing, the jaws are still developing — and that period is an opportunity. A myofunctional appliance is worn removably to encourage a more favourable relationship between the upper and lower jaws, and to help correct habits such as mouth breathing, tongue posture or thumb sucking that can influence how the bite forms.
Timing matters: these appliances rely on growth, so they are assessed and started at an appropriate developmental stage. Dr. Manan Shah will advise whether your child is at that stage, and what the alternative is if not.
