Braces
Precise correction for a confident bite
Braces use gentle, continuous pressure to move teeth and correct bite problems that need more control than removable appliances can offer.

About the treatment
How fixed braces work
A brace is made of small brackets bonded to each tooth and a wire that connects them. The wire is shaped to a planned position; as it returns to that shape it carries the teeth with it, a fraction of a millimetre at a time.
Because the appliance is fixed, it works continuously and gives the orthodontist control over the position and angle of every individual tooth. That makes braces the appropriate choice for more complex crowding, rotations and bite corrections.
- Continuous control — nothing to remember to wear
- Suitable for complex crowding, rotations and bite correction
- Adjusted at regular review appointments
- Retainers fitted at the end to hold the result
Your options
Choosing what suits you
Brackets come in different materials. Which suits you depends on the case and your preference.
Metal brackets
The most robust option, and usually the most economical. Strong, reliable and suitable for every type of case.
Ceramic brackets
Tooth-coloured brackets that are far less noticeable than metal, working in the same way.
